Odisha: BJD appoints Chandra Sekhar Sahu as chairman of manifesto committee

Bhubaneswar, Apr 3 (IANS): In a big growth, the President of Biju Janata Dal and Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik has appointed Berhampur MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu because the occasion’s state vice chairman and chairman of the manifesto committee.

The choice got here inside hours after senior Bharatiya Janata Social gathering (BJP) chief Bhrugu Baxipatra tendered his resignation from the first membership of the occasion on Wednesday. He was an aspiring candidate from the BJP for the Berhampur Lok Sabha seat.

Earlier, BJP had nominated Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy for the Berhampur Lok Sabha constituency changing Bhrugu who had contested from the constituency in 2019 on a BJP ticket. Panigrahy, a former BJD heavyweight in Ganjam district and the sitting MLA from the Gopalpur joined BJP in February this 12 months.

Bhrugu was reportedly sad with the BJP for denying him a ticket from Berhampur Lok Sabha constituency.

“With a heavy coronary heart, I’m tendering my resignation from the first membership of the Bharatiya Janata Social gathering (BJP). As a member for 23 years, I’ve put my greatest efforts for the expansion of the Social gathering within the state. I’ve executed each single accountability that I used to be assigned, with utter sincerity and diligence. I’m grateful to the Social gathering for utilizing my companies to strengthen its organisational and political base within the state. Nonetheless, these days, I’ve realised that the Social gathering doesn’t require me or my contribution anymore,” wrote Bhrugu in his resignation letter to BJP state chief Manmohan Samal.

Sources claimed that Bhrugu might be part of Biju Janata Dal and get a ticket to contest from the Berhampur Parliamentary constituency.
