Reston Community Center to kick off summer entertainment series

Reston Group Middle will kick off its summer season leisure tomorrow (courtesy RCC)

Reston City Sq. Park (11900 Market Road) and Reston Station (1901 Reston Metro Plaza) will quickly come to life with summer season leisure organized by the Reston Group Middle.

RCC has organized six series this 12 months, various from jazz ensembles to household picnics. Some occasions will characteristic pop-up treats in different neighborhoods.

“Reston is aware of it’s summer season when the sounds of nice music may be heard in our stunning plazas,” RCC Board Chair Beverly Cosham stated. “RCC brings folks collectively to bop, socialize, go to an outside restaurant, or share a picnic basket. It’s a Reston custom we preserve increasing and sit up for yearly.”

The primary live performance — a jazz present from singer Darden Purcell — will usher in Memorial Day weekend at Reston City Sq. Park tomorrow (Friday).

Take a Break
Thursdays, June 1 – August 31

Starting with Don’t Again Down, a Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers tribute band, the Take a Break concert events fill the plaza atop the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station. Different performers embrace Texas Chainsaw Horns, Loudoun Jazz Ensemble, Scott Kurt and Memphis 59. Darden Purcell and Friends
Fridays, Could 26 – October 13

Jazz vocalist and sequence curator Darden Purcell brings her group to open the summer season sequence of “Darden & Associates” in Reston City Sq. Park. This live performance will characteristic thrilling new preparations of Nice American Songbook repertoire and jazz requirements.

Fab Fridays
June 2 – September 1
7-8:30 p.m.
Reston Station

Kick off the weekend with Fab Fridays that includes the U.S. Military Blues Large Band, festive rhythms from Dogo from Togo, merengue with Latin pop band Ocho de Bastos and plenty of extra. Family Fun Entertainment
Saturdays, June 17 – August 5

Convey the youngsters for magic, comedy, puppets, music and plenty of laughs. Household Enjoyable begins on June 17 with Guava Jelly. Different exhibits embrace Rocknoceros, Lohr Household Antics, The Uncle Devin Present and Turley the Magician. Household Enjoyable Leisure is introduced by RCC and Reston City Middle Affiliation in cooperation with MSE Productions, Inc. Reston City Middle garages provide free parking on Saturdays.

Sunday Art in the Park with the Shenandoah Conservatory
Sundays, June 11 – August 27
7-8 p.m.
Reston City Sq. Park

Wind down your weekend with classical, jazz and cabaret-style music offered by school and college students from Shenandoah College’s acclaimed music conservatory. The sequence begins June 11 with Ellington Caravan paying tribute to Duke Ellington. This sequence will run by August 27. Go to Sunday Artwork within the Park for the entire schedule. Reston City Middle storage parking is free on Sundays. Sunday Artwork within the Park is introduced by RCC and Reston City Middle Affiliation in cooperation with Shenandoah College.
