ECI orders transfer of 2 IAS, 6 IPS officers to non-poll related posts

BHUBANESWAR: The Election Fee of India (ECI) on Tuesday ordered speedy switch of eight bureaucrats together with two collectors and 4 superintendents of police (SPs) from their present postings to non-election associated posts.

IG Central Asish Kumar Singh, Cutttack DCP Kanwar Vishal Singh, Cuttack collector Vineet Bhardwaj, Jagatsinghpur collector Parul Patawari, Angul SP Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra, Ganjam SP Saravama Vivek M, Khurda SP Jugal Kishore Banoth and Rourkela SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra have been directed to be transferred to non-election associated posts.

In a letter to the state chief secretary, ECI secretary Rakesh Kumar stated the transfers be effected instantly and a compliance report must be submitted. The ECI has requested the state authorities to suggest a panel of three eligible officers in respect of every of the posts for filling up of the vacancies.

The ECI transfer has come within the midst of allegations from Opposition political events relating to biasness and misuse of energy and place by some authorities officers. On March 9, a BJP delegation had met the chief electoral officer (CEO), Odisha, over the delay in switch of presidency officers earlier than the final elections. The occasion had alleged that some cops have been persevering with at their place of posting even after 5 years.
