Mercury tops 40 deg C in several Odisha districts


Bhubaneswar, Apr 2 (PTI) Warmth wave situations continued to prevail in lots of components of Odisha on Tuesday, with the mercury crossing the 40 levels Celsius mark.
    In line with a bulletin issued by the IMD’s Bhubaneswar regional centre, the very best temperature of 41.7 levels Celsius was recorded at Malkangiri, adopted by Titlagarh (41.5 levels C), Boudh (41.4 levels C) and Bhawanipatna (41.2 levels C).
    The utmost temperature was 41 levels Celsius at Nayagarh, Bolangir and Talcher cities. The mercury touched 40.7 levels Celsius at Angul and 40.3 levels Celsius at Jharsuguda throughout the day.
    State capital Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded most temperatures of 37.2 levels Celsius and 38.4 levels Celsius, respectively, the bulletin stated.
    “On account of prevailing primarily northwesterly/westerly dry air and excessive photo voltaic insolation, the utmost temperature could be greater than 40 levels C at many locations throughout Odisha, and more likely to be above regular by 3 to five levels C throughout April 3 to six,” it stated.
    The relative humidity will stay within the vary of 50-70 per cent in coastal Odisha and 30-50 per cent within the inside pockets.
    The Met workplace stated warmth wave situations would proceed to prevail in some locations of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts on Wednesday.
    The IMD has issued a ‘yellow warning’ (be up to date) for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh districts for Thursday.
